I just returned from a trip to Egypt where I had a chance to research more about food and nutrition! The carvings and hieroglyphs on temples dating back more than 5000 years show a mix of fresh vegetables, fruit, grains, dairy, beans and meats as part of a balanced diet. This is how humans have thrived for millennia.
The ancients also ate seasonally and locally. Having variety in our diets is a key to complete nutrition. Instead of restricting what you eat, think about expanding the items in your diet.
Regardless of your diet (vegetarian, low saturated fat, low sugar, etc.) there’s always room to try new things, and there’s no time like the present!
